Vocal Expression through speech
Vocal expression is about how you deliver your message with words and how you express those words. When have good vocal expression, you can convey emotion and character to your audience simply by your pitch, your pronunciation, and the speed at which you speak.
Acting-expression through character
A facial expression conveys an emotion that tells us about the character and the way they react to the situation. It may also tell us something about that situation, eg if the character is very shocked when something happens. A facial expression can also convey the character’s true feelings.
THE STORY
The older I get, the more I notice that life’s evolving story is exactly
that and there is no final destination. It is BEAUTIFUL!
Voice2act was born out of two long- lived passions.
- Vocal Expression through speech and
- Acting- expression through character
Growing up in a small town and being raised by a family that shared the common belief of the time that children should be seen and not heard was instigative enough for me to pursue a career that allowed me a safe place to express myself and not suffer the consequences of telling the truth about life. Theatre was that safe place- A place that allows you to tell the truth about life. What a rebellion, what a liberation!
The National school of Arts was calling. I auditioned, I made it, I moved to Johannesburg, into boarding school and the journey began. I went on to study a higher Diploma in Drama, a teacher’s qualification in the Meisner technique and I continue to study in the field of learning and development.
It has been a beautiful, sometimes excruciating process of undoing limiting behaviours and beliefs. I have been embarrassed and euphoric as I have become increasingly self-aware as I have endured realisation, reflection, releasing and reprogramming over and over. The older I get, the more I notice that life’s evolving story is exactly that and there is no final destination. It is BEAUTIFUL!
It is also something that human beings struggle with. I have always had a natural ability to shed some light while journeying with people as they struggle along the dark prickly path. It was and still is liberating for me and being able to hold the space for others has become my life’s work. And what a privilege it continues to be.
